This kind of thing only happens once a year, never on repeat, never on reserve. Come through to the Chinese Association at Stony Brook's annual China Night to see live performances from students of the Stony Brook community, guest appearances by groups and greeks alike, and our very own peoples. Then, there is the show, something movies can't offer you, constantly changing and adaptive script, that money can't buy.
You can bring your friends to enjoy the show with you, because there is going to be a lot to see. Some of what's going on that night include:

-Stepping

-Modeling

-Singing

-Dancing

-and Acting takes the main stage...
Don't just come because there is nothing else to do that night. Come because you want to see a good show and get that entertainment money value, three-fold!

UPDATED MODELING AUDITION TIME AND LOCATIONS - 2/22

Now, I'm gonna have to change it up a little, because this is getting real serious.

China Night 2011 AUDITIONS will be taking place this week and next.

If you are remotely interested in being involved in Stony Brook's biggest cultural event on campus, NOW IS THE TIME to express it. Since we will be utilizing the remaining weeks of the semester to prepare for China Night, we will have even less time to actively search for prospective performance candidates. Take the initiative and come impress us.

CASB's Chinese New Year Mahjong Tournament!

On behalf of CASB, we'd all like to welcome you back to school after a long winter break.. Chinese New Year has arrived, complete with new year candy, lion dances, hot pot, red envelopes, and fully fortunately, cash money!

CASB Presents... Winter Crafts Night!

It's a perfect time to gather, be warm, and prepare creatively for when the snow rolls in. Come join CASB in our first annual Winter Crafts Night.

We will be bringing our caroling voices, gingerbread house-making hands, and the long stockings on our feet... to hang. All we ask you to do is to bring AT LEAST one non-perishable canned good to donate for a greater cause and to feed the hungry during these times of cold. If you bring in more than one can, there will be more for you to do at the Winter Crafts Night, we can donate bountifully to the hunger relief organization, Island Harvest, and the hungry will go home, well, less hungry.

Aside from your donation, we will be providing drinks, food, holiday conscious sweets, as well as crafts for cards, stockings, care packages, and whatever else a festive winter harbors. The admission is simple and does not compare to what is going on that night.

-The best looking crafts will win PRIZES, so get your a-game.

Bring some friends, a few cans, have a good time, and let the festivities commence!

Hey Guys and Gals!!

It's that time again... CHINA NIGHT 2010 IS FINALLY HERE!

CASB is one of the oldest cultural clubs on this campus, celebrating our 40th anniversary last year.

Every spring, we like to host a cultural show written by students, directed by students and performed by students!

We will incorporate singing, modeling, dancing and of course acting to make an unbelievable action-packed show!

This is something you do NOT want to miss!!

Some of our amazing student performers include:

Hey everyone! Join CASB as we teach you how to make scented teabag air fresheners. We will also be showing you guys how a proper Chinese tea ceremony should be run. Come learn about the history of tea in the Chinese culture and have some FREE SAMPLES!

We will also be announcing our FIRST T-Shirt Design Contest! You could have your artwork featured on a CASB t-shirt!!
-The Winner will receive FREE TICKETS TO CHINA NIGHT and they will be announced to the public at the show! (Further details will be discussed at the meeting)

It's that time of the year again! Join CASB along with JSO, China Blue, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in NY, and Taiwanese American Association on LI for TSA's Traditional Night Market. Last year, TSA's first ever Traditional Night Market was a huge success, but this year's will be even better! Come out for the best night ever filled with amazing performances, exciting games and delectable Taiwanese food! For just $4 per person ($5 for non-SBU guests), everyone will bring home with them a gift from TSA, happy taste buds and great memories!

The Night Market will feature more than ten game stands, great Taiwanese cuisine, and performances by the CASB Dance Team, TSA's one and only band Last Rose and more by TSA's new talents! This will be the biggest and best event of 2010.

Last year, the tickets sold out FAST! So if you missed out last year, get your tickets before they're gone! Tickets will go on sale starting 3/8/10 at the SAC Ticket Office!

Come out and celebrate Asian Awareness Week with CASB! We will be hosting our annual Spring semester Mahjong Tournament on Thursday February 18 from 7:30-11pm in SAC Ballroom A.

Greetings all,

Due to the massive turnout from last year's Poker Tournament, we decided to turn it up a notch and go for a full-on Casino Night! There will be games such as a Texas Hold'em tournament, BlackJack, Spades and much more! All proceeds from this event will be donated to Typhoon Ondoy Relief! If you're interested in the Hold'em Tournament, be sure to come on time! It'll be held separately from other games.

So if you like to have fun for a good cause and win PRIZES, make sure you bring CANNED or NONPERISHABLE goods to the event! The more cans you bring, the more chips you'll receive which leads to more prizes! There will be many raffles going on throughout the event with the cost of chips, be sure to participate for prizes!

CASB is calling out all the poker players November 6th, 2008. Compete in our Poker Tournament taking place at SAC Auditorium from 730PM-11PM. Sign-up begins at 630PM and its first come first serve so come early to guarantee your spot! This is your chance to show your skills in Texas Hold’em and win prizes while you’re at it! Buy in is just a canned good for donation! Chinese poker tournament will also be taking place for a canned good as well. Come out, compete and start racking up those chips! Hey guys! CASB will be hosting its first Cultural Carnival this Thursday, October 23rd from 730PM-1100PM at SAC BALLROOM A! Special thanks to VSA, JCA, SASA, ASA and LDT for co-sponsoring! There will be prizes, t-shirts, food, games and much more! Come out for game of fish pong, compete in the chopstick relay, or get henna done! Learn to make origami, watch Lion Dancers perform and experience some good cultural food! Come out for a night of fun, who knows maybe you can win one of our selected raffle prizes!

First of all i hope you are enjoying the fall 2008 semester! Just wanted to let you know CASB will be at the Involvement Fair Wednesday September 17,2008! We look forward to seeing all of you guys there! It's a great chance to find out more information about our club and join all the events we have during the year! End of Semester Events!

First of all, China Night was a huge success!!! Thank you everyone for participating in it and coming to watch it! I hope that it was well worth the money. Everyone did an awesome job. Many have said that it was the best China Night they've seen which is gonna make it hard to top for next year's. Pictures and Video will be available soon! Check back often to see for any updates.

The Philippine United Student Organzation, also known as PUSO, is going to kick off the May month with their annual PUSOfest; a cultural show featuring acting and performances. It's coming up this Thursday 5/1 and held at the SAC Auditorium. Tickets are selling now at $3 SBU Student and $5 non-SBU student. Good show for cheap price, not bad at all. Then right after PUSOfest the next day, Friday 5/2, the collaboration of the Asian student organizations, headed by the Asian Student Alliance (ASA) will be having their traditional Nations of Asia Semi-Formal. It will be held at the beautiful surroundings of The Meadow Club. Tickets are being sold now at $20 for on-campus and $30 for off-campus. You may think that it's a bit pricey, but it's worth it. Dress fancy and sharp and prepare to dance the night away with that special someone or just sit down and enjoy the meals provided. Click the link for more information.

For those of you who have yet to buy a ticket, there will definetly be individuals selling them. How much they're selling them for? Well, it depends how nice they are xP For those of you who have gotten your tickets, good for you! You managed to beat many other to the chase. These tickets are hot items right now.

Holy crap! It's already been day 1 and approximately 56 tickets are left for China Night. Out of over 500 tickets to begin with, I'd say that's pretty good. Guess we'll be expecting a pretty good turn out and we'll be expecting you there! If you don't have a ticket, I suggest you try to get one quick. Ticket office opens at 11:30am in the morning.

In the meantime, while you're waiting for China Night and you wanna catch a show, you can catch KSA's Korean Night (K-Night) at the SAC Auditorium on Thursday 4/17. More information available in the links below.

China Night is Almost Here!

Heyy guys! It's getting close to that time of the year again when CASB shows off another one of our awesome shows. If you had a chance to see last year, then expect to see an even better show this year and if you didn't, I strongly suggest you watch China Night 07.

Here are some important info:
Tickets will be sold starting Monday 4/14 at the SAC ticket box
The prices are $6 On Campus
and $8 Off Campus

I strongly suggest you get them ASAP because they were sold out WITHIN 24 HOURS last year!!!
So don't delay!

China Night - Saturday April 19th
It'll start around 7:30pm at the SAC Auditorium
(but it is recommended to be at the doors by 7:00pm to ensure that you will get a good seat.)

If you are still interested, we are still doing props for the show so if any of you guys have any free time or would like to contribute to China Night, Prop Meetings are held every day but you are not required to show up to all of them. It would be appreciated if you do though. It starts around 8:30pm-9pm at Whitman Rec Room in Roth. So come by and help out! =D

Wow....it's been a long time since anything has been updated here hasn't it. Our apologies for not keeping up with this blog, but we've been busy as heck and still are. As you may or may not know, China Night 2008 is going to be on Saturday April 19th and we're going to need your help if we want to continue our streak of successful shows. If you're interested in contributing for the show, we have been having Prop Meetings EVERY DAY at 8:30pm in Whitman Rec Room over at Roth Quad. Of course you don't have to show up every day but if you can, it'd be greatly appreciated =D. Have fun painting, drawing, or even cutting! China Night Screening, Singing Contest Try-outs!

For all of you who don't know what China Night is, it is our annual show featuring dancing, modeling, acting and memorable comedic scenes sure to make you laugh. Come to this meeting to find out more. You won't regret it!. If you missed last year's awesome China Night, don't fret. This is your chance to watch it for free without having to pay for tickets! If you didn't watch it, I highly highly recommend you to take this opportunity to sit down with your friends, and enjoy the show while eating free food and drinks!! If you've already seen it, you know you wanna see it again, so come and stop by and enjoy it all over again.
Also, our Annual Singing Contest is coming up on November 1st. Therefore, we're going to be having try-outs on that day as well. If you think you can sing and want to show it off, come to our meeting so we can audition you for our contest. You'll have to have two songs prepared first though. Come try out because we're going to be giving out prizes to the winners!

But remember the good ol' times when you and a bunch of your friends would just chill at someone's house playing board games like Cranium, Fact or Crap, or even Taboo! Well come to our general body meeting to feel like a kid again. Relax and have a night of fun with some good ol' fashioned board games!
If you can't make it to our singing contest try-outs on the 17th, we will be holding another one for this general body meeting as well. These days won't be the only days we will be holding them so don't worry. Our tentative dates will be on the 14th, 15th, 16th, 17th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd, and the 24th. More information concerning the date, time and location of these try-outs will be given out via this blog, e-mail and our facebook group. Hi everyone! I'm going to keep this short so it wouldn't confuse any of you. As of now, CASB is going to be presenting you what our club is all about. Please stop by our table to check it out. We'll be wearing our shirts and sweater, so if you can't find us, we'll find YOU. Here are the events to let you guys know ahead of time so you can write it down.

Involvement fair is this wednesday(9/19)

Our first general body meeting is wednesday night (8:30-10pm)-Rm :Union UCC 135

It's going to be at the union, if you get lost, CASB members will guide you.
There will be an upcoming elections, if you plan to take part in the club.

An Early Welcome!

The Chinese Association at Stony Brook (CASB) is hoping everyone is enjoying the rest of their summer. We hope you guys have all gotten a chance to relax and maybe hit up a couple of awesome bbqs, parties, maybe had a kick ass vacation somewhere, waking up after 2 in the afternoon, or even made some money at a dead-end summer job. As you all may know, school is starting soon which means the end of the seasonal bliss. We would like to take this early opportunity to welcome the incoming freshmen and transfer students. A nod of the head goes out to all you returning students as well.

CASB is excited to announce this website (or blog) as our new online home. We will be updating all of you on our events and news as well as posting up all of our pictures here. This site will be continuously updated throughout the semesters with the latest word from CASB cabinet members, which means you readers will be the first to know about our most current events and activities.

If any of you have questions or concerns, please feel free to post a comment on the blog entry. Otherwise, please email us. The tabs on the menu bar will link you to the sites we use the most. [aa]2 is an online magazine focused on asian american culture and asian-oriented clubs in Stony Brook University. It provides the latest events on campus and is a close partner to CASB. Pictures of our past events such as CHINA NIGHT are posted there. We also have a group on Facebook. If you join it, you will be provided with bulletins on upcoming events and it's a great way to network yourself among the other members of our club.

Now that the basics are laid down, we will leave you guys to enjoy what's left of the summer. A proper introduction of ourselves will be reserved for a later date. See you guys soon!
